◦ Awareness building on treaties and conventions regarding the rights of migrant workers ◦ Establishing the database on countries sending and receiving migrant workers for identifying the spectrum of violations and resolving together with the NGOs and Labor Unions. ◦ Studying practices of resolving issues of illegal migrants and members of their family in countries that sent or received them, preventive measure against human trafficking, protecting its victims ◦ Providing legal advisory service in collaboration with the Civil Registration and Information Center, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and other organizations to women migrating for marital purposes.

◦ Organizing trainings on human rights and legal provisions of specific countries. ◦ Establishing higher marriage standards and creating more beneficial legal frameworks. ◦ Developing a database of legislations and other necessary information of migrant sending and receiving countries ◦ Organizing in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations comprehensive program for providing assistance, preventing from being subject of human trafficking, violence and deceit.

◦ Results of research reveal the need for more: Further examination of the issue Intergovernmental cooperation Collaboration between the government and non-government organizations Delicacy in approach, especially in regard to migrant women and children Information sharing among NHRIs

The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia recommends that ◦ Enhanced networking would enhance protection of the rights of migrant workers (through regional and international organizations) ◦ A Memorandum of Understanding among NHRIs ensuring assistance to migrants residing within their country would bring positive results.

A step-by step actions are taken by the NHRCM to support the ratification of the UN Convention on Migrant Workers through the goals within its Strategic Plan for 2008-2011. ◦ Improving the understanding and knowledge on the Convention. ◦ Public advocacy through campaigns and ◦ Establishment of a working group composed of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Labor, Immigration Agency and NHRCM ◦ Draft recommendations of the NHRCM
