What Is a Dental Iplant? A dental implant is an artificial tooth root (synthetic material) that is surgically anchored into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth, bridge or denture in place. The benefit of using implants is that they don’t rely on neighboring teeth for support, they are permanent and stable. Implants are a good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth. Implant material is made from different types of metallic and bone-like ceramic materials that are compatible with body tissue. There are different types of dental implants: the first is placed directly into the jaw bone, like natural tooth roots; the second is used when the jaw structure is limited, therefore, a custom-made metal framework fits directly on the existing bone. What Dental Implants Can Do? Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable

What are porcelain veneers? Veneers are a thin, semi-translucent laminate permanently bonded to your teeth. While they’re not suitable for every patient, veneers are the most aesthetic alternative for a variety of dental conditions involving the front teeth, including: Diastemas (spaces between teeth) Broken or chipped teeth Unsightly, stained, or washed-out fillings Permanently stained or discolored teeth that can’t be bleached Crooked teeth

Chipped Tooth If you have a broken or chipped tooth that is not the result of a recent trauma, Your dentist can evaluate the tooth for possible treatment. It is still important to have the tooth evaluated right away, because in some situations a minor procedure now can save you from a more significant procedure in the near future! A very small chip may be corrected by enamel shaping. If the chip is a little larger, the best options may be bonding or a veneer. If the chip is on a molar, an onlay may be appropriate. Large chips and fractured teeth generally require a crown. If the fracture involves the nerve, Root Canal Therapy may be necessary before the tooth is crowned. It is important to have a broken tooth crowned before it becomes infected or abscessed!

What is Invisalign? The Invisalign system is a series of clear aligners used to straighten teeth. The Invisalign aligners are made after the orthodontist takes impressions of your teeth and sends them to a lab. The lab makes the custom aligners especially for you using computerized technology. After a couple of weeks the clear Invisalign aligners arrive at the office and the first set of Invisalign aligners are tried on your teeth. The Invisalign aligners are clear and are barely visible to others compared to metal orthodontic Braces with brackets and wires. With the guidance of your dentist, you move to the next set of Invisalign aligners usually after about 3 weeks. The number of Invisalign aligners will depend on the individual patient and the orthodontic problem. The Invisalign aligners are generally fairly comfortable. There can be some discomfort or mild Pain when a new Invisalign aligner is placed as it exerts pressure on the teeth to move them. Unlike traditional metal orthodontic Braces, there are no brackets to come off or wires to break and poke.

What is a Crown? A crown (also called a cap) is a man-made cover that protects the tooth. It may be used to restore and preserve decayed, broken or cracked teeth. Crowns can also improve your overall appearance. Types of Crowns Metal: These are made of gold or other metals. It is very strong and won’t break. Because this type isn’t tooth colored, it may not be the best for a front tooth. Porcelain: This is a tooth colored crown made of porcelain or re-inforced resin. It comes in a range of shades to blend with your other teeth. This type of crown may be more likely to chip than a metal crown.
