Goals for MYVP Grant: Improve academic outcomes among project participants Curriculum-based approach to increase positive behaviors and decrease negative ones

Target Audience Minority & Immigrant Youth Residents @ The Decatur Housing Authority’s “STAR” summer camp: Successfully Teaching Academic Readiness

“STAR” Camp Details 5 weeks in length beginning June 6 Held at the DHA Community Resource Center 40 youth ranging from 3 rd -8 th grade Focus on academic skill-building Meals Provided by DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Affairs Registration held March 11 $20 Registration Fee Certified education tutors

Implementation Train all camp staff to implement Positive Action and to reinforce messages throughout the camp Positive Action Lessons will be taught twice a day to 3 small groups in 30 minute sessions The parent education program is 7 sessions held throughout the camp; meant to reinforce skills taught to children during the day

Evaluation Parental permission to survey campers by May 1 Obtain Math & Science grades by May 30 Gather quantitative data daily Campers pretest & post test Parent surveys pre and post on behavior changes Math Science grades by January 21, 2017
