SAUK I Traditional Clothing
3
Traditional clothing, often referred to as regalia, is still worn by Sac and Fox tribal members on special occasions. These occasions include formal events, powwow, and religious ceremonies. As tribes were forced into closer and closer contact with one another, different groups of people began to “borrow” or adapt the tribal dress of other cultures. After colonization, Native Americans also began to adopt Western materials and styles of dress in addition to their traditional clothes.
