What is TSCA? The TSCA allows the EPA authority to require reporting, record-keeping and testing requirements, and restrictions relating to chemical substances and mixtures. Although some substances are excluded from this act like some foods, drugs, cosmetics and pesticides. The TSCA does not separate the chemicals into “toxic” and “non-toxic”, instead it prohibits the manufacture or importation of chemicals that are not on the TSCA list of chemicals. The environmental issues affect are that the TSCA address the production, importation, use, and disposal of specific chemicals (ex: PCBs, asbestos, radon).
