DRINKING AGE Blake NielsenAnna Clement Traci AndersonSally Soueidi SHOULD IT BE LOWERED?

CONVENIENCE SAMPLE For the convenience sampling, I simply asked the poll question worded, "Do you think that the legal drinking age should be lowered, below 21 years of age, in the United States?" to every person who it was convenient for me to ask during my daily routine. This included family members, friends, people at the gym and people who I saw at the grocery store when conducting the systematic sampling method. I interviewed a total of 30 people, tallied up the answers and here are the results. Yes, the drinking age should be lowered in the U.S.-- 11 of 30 people = 36.67 % of the sample No, the drinking age should not be lowered in the U.S. -- 19 of 30 people = 63.33 % of the sample

STRATIFIED SAMPLE For the Stratified Sample I decided to ask the polling question, “If you could Lower or Higher the drinking age would you?” I asked students and staff members at Salt Lake Community College's Student Center. I asked a total of 50 people, 25 men and 25 women. In these graphs you will see the percentage and gender associated with that gender. The first people I saw as I was walking around the building were the lucky people who I asked.

CLUSTER SAMPLE For the cluster sampling, I interviewed a total of 16 people who are enrolled in a biology class at Westminster College, and asked them the same poll question that was asked in the convenience sampling method. The college student's replies were much different than the people from the convenient sample. Yes, the drinking age should be lowered in the U.S.-- 14 of 16 people = 87.5 % of the sample No, the drinking age should not be lowered in the U.S. -- 2 of 16 people = 12.5 % of the sample

MATCHED PAIRS DESIGN Asked every male and female that walked out of the store until I got 15 for each gender. However, I did ask more than 30 people because some people did not want to answer. Males: Y N Y N N N Y N Y N Y N N N N Females: N N N N N N N Y N Y N N N N N

INDEPENDENT SAMPLES For the Independent Sample I decided to ask the polling question, “If you could Lower or Higher the drinking age would you?” I asked students and staff members at Salt Lake Community College's Student Center. I asked a total of 50 people, 25 men and 25 women. The groups of people I compared were by the age group of 18-25. With this separation of the group it was a total of 21 people in this study depicted in these two graph.
