What to expect in TB 2.0 J. Templon, NIKHEF/WP8

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 2 WP1 u New resource broker architecture Big potato → french (“freedom”) fries u Fixes for Condor-G 512 job limit u Fixes for myproxy server problems u Support for job checkpointing n User will have to provide space for checkpoint data n User will have to manage checkpoint data n I think program will require some instrumentation

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 3 WP2 u New replica manager program n Mostly uses different replica catalog n Promised to be more robust, better error handling u Replica Location Service n Entirely different “replica catalog” n Uses WP7 network info to really find “best replica” u Basic Metadata Facilities n Can add user-defined attributes n Can’t directly search for “all files with given attribute” yet

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 4 WP3 u Unknown exactly what will be in 2.0 u R-GMA “almost ready” but there are some problems u If ready, will choose between MDS & R-GMA: whichever is more reliable and stable u GLUE schema is a big question mark we haven’t really studied it, and only now realizing how important schema is for certain grid operations!

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 5 WP4 u LCFGng – supposed to be better. Not many people have looked at it. u LCAS / VOMS / LCMAPS – implications for security, mostly in WP4. LCAS has some upgrades but I’m not sure if anyone is using them yet. Maybe VOMS is only customer

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 6 WP5 u SE v 1.0 u Space reservation not really there – there is an API and it checks space but doesn’t really reserve it u Code is still being furiously written, people are unsure of what the SE released will actually be u Heard rumblings about “rfio support” but not clear what this means.

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 7 WP6 u Not sure what will be different

Jeff Templon – AWG Meeting, NIKHEF, 2003.03.20 - 8 WP7 u Network costs u Will be used by replica manager to get optimized replica selection.
