An eating disorder is a mental disorder that reveals itself through abnormal behaviors relating to food Causes: Low self esteem, strong desire to please others, avoiding difficult emotions or dealing with them Anorexia nervosa Bulimia Binge eating disorder

Anorexia nervosa: not eating enough food to maintaina healthy body weight. The main symptom is extreme weight loss. Other symptoms include slowed heart and breathing rates, dry skin, lowered body temperature, loss of menstrual period (females)

An uncontrolled eating binge is known as a “Binge eating disorder”. If you purge at the end of a binge, it is known as “Bulimia”. Hunger caused from this can create more binges. People with bulimia may suffer from kidney damage, dehydration, lack of necessary vitamins and minerals, depression People with binge eating disorder may suffer from excess weight gain, unhealthy dieting, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease

Support System Mental-health professional Address underlying emotional problems (What is the root?) Build self-esteem and self confidence Pursue health weight loss or gain from a fitness and nutritional expert (personal trainer)
