Club Activities and Ideas Discussion circles in the classroom and Discussion board posts on Club Fusion page Creation of alternate endings Student led discussions Letters to the author Picture This: bring in art related to book's time or themes; compare, describe, discuss Facebook Character creations Oprah’s Bookclub: student host, author, and cast of characters; allow questions from the audience Dear Diary: keep a diary as if you were a character in the story. Write down events that happen during the story and reflect on how and why they affected the character

Clubs in the Arts Options Create bookmarks Create pop-up books Create and write a story together as a class; write and pass Board game creation for adventure stories Interactive Storyboard: individually or in groups, create a storyboard for the chapter or story Character pantomimes Tableau: create a still life setting; then someone steps up to touch different characters who come alive and talk from their perspective about the scene. Library Lock-Ins Approx. 2 Fridays a year (unless there is much interest!) Meet in 9 th grade center Library 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Pizza, Soda, Popcorn, and other snacks will be provided Movies will consist of films based off of any of our books from the club or American Literature pieces

The books We will read one book per month, with a few exceptions around the holidays. A variety of genres: fiction and non, adventure & survival, choices & transitions, classics, family & relationships, fantasy, horror & suspense, interactive stories, mysteries & thrillers, peer pressure, peoples & cultures, school, substance abuse, supernatural thrillers
