Rockefeller Foundation E-Health/PHI Meeting Bellagio, Italy July 2008- Call to Action Capacity for Today and Tomorrow Build a Network of Regional Centers of Excellence in Public Health Informatics based in lead health sciences universities in resource constrained countries (6 to 10) with a minimum 10 year funded program of public health informatics research, development and training This requires new partnerships (public/private) and relationships between the Centers and Ministries of Health, NGOs, and Foundations and the private sector as well as with other Centers for Public Health Informatics throughout the world An architecture is required for a national health information system to guide countries in strengthening their own health system and for developers to provide effective tools to help them do it.
