Unit 7 We believe in life everlasting
2
All of God’s creation shares one destiny. We are called by God to live life to the fullest in harmony with the rest of creation. All life is a gift from God.
3
Everlasting Life: Life is everlasting. Life is bigger than we are and should never be treated as our possession. Stewardship: the responsibility that Christians have in maintaining and using wisely the gifts that God has given them.
4
Creative Response 4 Topic: Potential Create a story (2 page minimum, single spaced, front and back) about wasted potential, and the consequences that follow. Reaching one’s potential and the rewards that follow.
5
We have the responsibility to care for and protect all life belonging to God forever, and because all life helps connect us to God forever. Life does not belong to us; we are only the stewards of the life that is entrusted to us.
6
Dignity: The quality of being worthy of esteem or honor (i.e. worthiness) Because human life is so valuable, we must oppose all things that try to hurt or destroy that life, and to honor the dignity that is in every human life. When we don’t honor another human being, we are failing to honor God.
7
Peace: Jesus’ peace is a sense of calm that fills us so that there is no room for hatred or violent thoughts. The peace Jesus offers depends on forgiveness. Jesus tells us that we will only really have peace if we stop wanting to get even and try to do what is good.
8
Justice: The ideally, morally correct state of things and people. The love of God and neighbor are the foundations for just relationships. The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Which commandment in the law is the greatest?” Jesus answered, “ You shall love the Lord our God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself ” (Matthew 22: 36-39)
9
Creative Response #5 Write a two-page, typed only, 12 font, Times New Roman, double spaced, story about peace and forgiveness. Due Tuesday
10
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. God does not expect us to save the world or to overcome all injustices by ourselves. Jesus calls us to be the “salt of the earth” and “light of the world”. By doing our little bit, we affect the world in ways we may never even know.
