DID People lose contact with their consciousness (or portions of their consciousness) or memory, resulting in disruptions of their sense of identity Co-existence in one person of two or more largely complete and usually very different personalities

DID Goes far beyond “different roles” Each person has different mannerisms, names, traits Personalities are often unaware of each other Much more diagnosed since the 1980’s, more cases or helped along?

CAUSES Intentional Role-Playing- making up for personal failings Some therapists may even help create Sexual Abuse- severe emotional trauma in childhood

Dissociative Fugue People lose their memory for their entire lives along with their sense of personal identity Remember implicit tasks like drive a car and how to do math
