JAXA Operations Streamlining Operations streamlining is our continuous effort to achieve further cost effective and sustainable JEM operations while ensuring crew and system safety and maximizing the utilization outcome. “JEM PAYLOAD OFF CONSOLE” is the leading venture currently ongoing and is in the final stage prior to the official implementation. Further areas currently in focus for the next phase include, (but not limited to); Combined Planning Force, Night Shift Off Loading, and merging System/Payload Operations. 2 JAXA Operations Streamlining – POIWG#35

JEM PAYLOADS OFF CONSOLE 3 JAXA Operations Streamlining – POIWG#35 An attempt to enhance communications efficiency in the Real Time Operations, and to take advantage of JEM PAYLOADS’ skills and abilities in order to reinforce utilization integration process. Currently in the last stage (final trial). Final Readiness SIM in March. Official implementation slated for April, 2014. Off console JEM PAYLOADS now lead the “OFF LINE TEAM” J-FLIGHT POD JEM PAYLOADS New Comm Path

Areas to be considered 4 JAXA Operations Streamlining – POIWG#35 Combined Planning Force – Teaming up System planner (J- PLAN) and Payload planner (J-POC) as one planning force. Removing them from console is also an option. Night Shift Off Loading – Physical and mental effects to the Flight Controllers (FC) due to the long term shift work must be seriously considered. Reducing FC in night may be an option. Merging System and Payload Operations – Rearranging System FC function and Payload FC function may contribute manning optimization.
