How to behave in Poland?

We must be punktual. We must be ready with all the materials to start. We should listen carefully during lessons.

We must sit down and we musn’t stand up without permission during the lesson. We must do all the exercise and bring our homework done. We must ask our teacher to say something.

We musn’t talk while teacher is explaining. We must participate in lesson actively. We must switch off our mobile phones.

We are not allowed to wear caps during lessons. We are not allowed to chew gum or eat and drink in a lesson. We must respect the property of others and endeavour to ensure that the buildings, equipment and grounds of the school are kept in good condition.

You must talk cultural. Hello everyone. Could you repeat that, please? May I come in? May I go out? Sorry, I forgot my book. Can I borrow a pen, please? I’m sorry, I don’t understand this. Sorry I’m late.

You should not talk. If you must say something, please whisper. Try not to disturb other people. Don’t eat anything! At the theatre

First, the people get off the bus, then other people get into it. Give place to the elderly on buses. Behave culturally in the conversation. You should not move from place to place while the bus is moving. You should not use be involved in rowdy conduct or loud, disruptive or rude language. On the bus

On street We musn’t listen to our music aloud. Don’t throw rubbish on the ground. If you have a pet collect your dog poop in a bag and throw it in the trash

The young person should first greet older person, a men should first greet a woman and a student should first greet teacher. You should say „good morning” to older people and „hello” to our peers. Women always kiss each other in cheeks three times. If you are accompanied by two people who don’t know each other, you must introduce themselves. Welcome

On social gathering Be punktual If you can’t arrive on time, inform people who invited you about that. Say thank you the host family for the invitation. Be courteous and pleasant to everyone.

Wear clothes suitable for occasion. Don’t wear dirty clothes. Don’t whisper in somebody ear if you there are in company other people. Don’t lie. Don’t gossip about friends. Keep a secret your friend.

Wash pour hands before meals. Don’t sit at the table until everyone sits down. Behave curturally at the table – do not smak etc. Wait until everyone is served before eating. It shows consideration. At the table

Don’t throw food! Sit up and do not hunch over your plate: wrist or forearms can rest on the table, or hands on lap. Don’t stuff your mouth full of food, it looks gross, and you could choke. Chew with your mouth closed. Don’t talk while you have food in your mouth

Always use a napkin to dab your mouth, which should be on your lap when not in use. Don’t spit, don’t smack, don’t belch. If one of these happens, apologise immediately. Don’t pick in your nose.

Take your plate to the sink after the meal. Don’t make any critical comments about any food being served. It will hurt someone’s feelings. Always say „Thank you”

Correspondence Don’t read someone’s correspondence! If you got a love letter, try to keep a letter for yourself, don’t show it to other people.

Apology If someone offends you – listen carefully, be calm, don’t shout. Don’t hestitate to apologise. Apologise honestly, don’t blame other people for your faults. Always say sorry.

Chatting Don’t interrupt anyone during the talk. In the society try to talk with all the people. Don’t have a long face while talking. Don’t talk about matter unpleasent for other people. Don’t whisper in somebody ear when you spent time with friend.

In contact with srangers Don’t agree to meet unknown people in empty and quiet places. Don’t go to stranger home and don’t get into stranger car. Don’t borrow money to strangers. Don’t open the door to strangers
