One Million Pennies By: Caitlyne Gomez

How tall would a stack of one million pennies be. Guess the height.
My guess: I think one penny may be 2 millimeters. 2mm x 1,000,000= 2,000,000mm. 2,000,000mm = 2,000 meters. 2,000meters = 6, feet I guess that one million pennies would be 6, feet.

One Million Pennies Ten pennies = 1.5 cm
One million pennies = 1.5 x 100,000 = 1,500,000 = 590,551 inches. 590,551 inches = 49,212.6 feet P.S. I multiplied 1.5 centimeters by 100,000 because 1,000,000/10= 100,000 and I divided by ten because there are ten pennies.

First, I guessed how thick one penny would be
First, I guessed how thick one penny would be. Then, I multiplied it by 1,000,000. To figure out the real answer, I measured ten pennies. Finally, I multiplied it by 100,000. I multiplied it by 100,000 because 1,000,000 divided by ten equals 100,000. My guessed answer was 6, feet. My real answer is 49,212.6 feet. The point is, I was way off.

If the pennies were put next to each other in a line, how far would the line stretch?
One penny= mm in diameter. 19.05 x 1,000,000 = 19,050,000 mm One million pennies = 19,050,000 mm 19,050,0000 mm = 62,500 feet = miles A line of 1,000,000 pennies would stretch miles.

How thick would 1,000,000 dimes be?
One dime = 1.35 mm 1.35 x 1,000,000 = 1,350,000 mm 1,350,000 mm = 4, feet 1,000,000 dimes = 4, feet tall

How thick would 500,000 nickels and 500,000 quarters stacked up be?
One nickel= 1.95 mm One million nickels= 6, feet 6,397.64/2= 3, feet One quarter= 1.75 mm One million quarters= 5, feet 6, , = 12, feet 500,000 nickels and 500,000 quarters stacked up would be 12, feet high.
