SMB SMB-SE group L. Scibile 1
2
SMB Mandate The SMB-SE Group is responsible to provide, to operate, maintain and to renovate the civil engineering infrastructures and the technical services for the tertiary part of the organization. The abovementioned responsibilities include all phases from design and construction to operation and maintenance of complete built assets. 2
3
SMB Groups scope 3 From minor works to construction From Design and Operation & Maintenance to complex projects
4
SMB Groups objectives and priorities Objectives: – FUTURE ACCELERATOR STUDIES – a world class expertize. – PROJECTS – a productive and efficient team. HL-LHC, LS2 and Consolidation of the infrastructure – SERVICES – a service oriented culture. Priorities: – Safety – Strategic projects ( HL-LHC, LS2 and Consolidation of the infrastructure ) – Machine availability – Users satisfaction 4

SMB SAFETY RISKS : – The risk of an accident is higher when underestimated. – In the case of doubts, ask your supervisor or your DSO. – Adapt your behavior to the situation. For the newcomers: – Get informed and trained about the specific risks on the CERN site: Safety rules: https://espace.cern.ch/Safety-Rules- Regulations/en/Pages/default.aspxhttps://espace.cern.ch/Safety-Rules- Regulations/en/Pages/default.aspx Safety Training: https://espace.cern.ch/info-safetytraining- official/Pages/default.aspxhttps://espace.cern.ch/info-safetytraining- official/Pages/default.aspx For the supervisors: – Brief your supervisee about the risk they might face on their new assignments. 16/12/14 EDMS: 1456161 Habilitation Electrique !!!!

SMB Hard Facility Management Services 2016-2020 Increase efficiency with integrated tools In 2016-2019 renew all the framework contracts Implement small value frame contracts with specialized local companies (sanitary, insulation) Clarify and negotiate new perimeter of intervention with EN to increase overall efficiency. Review the limit of the services provided. 12
13
SMB Site Engineering design services 2016-2020 Increase capacity of design integration Strengthen support to other sections through streamlined/standard procedures/templates. 13
14
SMB Projects 2016-2020 Setup a strong team for the HL-LHC civil engineering works. Implement the consolidation program 2016-2020. Strengthen scheduling and control with a master schedule activity. Implement improved standards for the quality control. New organization of the Project Office section 14
15
SMB Development of a new activity for the long term monitoring and maintenance planning of the existing tunnel infrastructures: Tunnel Asset Management. 15 Future Accelerator Studies 2016-2020

SMB Conclusion Rump up of the HL-LHC civil engineering effort. Ring-fence resources required to carry out the consolidation activities. Seize the opportunity to increase efficiency through supporting tools integration allowing automated control, scheduling and quality management in the overall execution of the technical services (converge to a common ERP solution with FAP and IPT). 18
