DATA COLLECTION SURVEY CEREAL
2
QUESTION1
3
EXPLANATION My first question was to find out which brand of breakfast cereal was most liked from the people we interviewed. I found out that the majority or people liked cereal brands that we did not list but other than that it was pretty much equal. Based off this information, the results show that each brand was pretty mixed. Although “other” lead the votes with 30%, the answers that we received for “other” were mixed and that was why “other” received the most votes. As for our question, it was not biased because it did not in any way lead our voters to a certain brand. I made sure that their answer was completely authentic and was their choice with no guidance. However, I could have included more brands to choose from instead of “other” so that we could have a better understanding on what is the most liked cereal. Like I said before, the choices I categorized as other were mixed and that was the only reason it lead in votes.

QUESTION 2

EXPLANATION My second question was to find out how often do people eat cereal if at all. The results show that most people don’t eat cereal or at least every week. Other than that, the results again are pretty mixed and a lot say that they either eat every day or once every other day. Based on this information, most people eat cereal at least once a week but do not eat it everyday. The question itself was not biased because I broadly asked what was their favourite cereal to eat not leading anyone into some sort of direction. I could have included and indecisive category however because some eat cereal daily one week and another week eat cereal only once or not at all.

QUESTION 3
7
EXPLANATION My last question was to find out overall if people think eating cereal is a healthy to eat for breakfast. The graph shows that the results were pretty close with 55% saying no and 45% yes to it being healthy to eat for breakfast. However we must address that many said that it was not a healthy breakfast and maybe that opinion is the reason that some people do not eat cereal when voting for the previous question. I do not believe the question itself is biased because once again I did not really lead anyone into a particular direction however, I will say that many were in the middle because there are some cereals that are healthy and some are not. I needed a yes or no answer so I told them to make their choice based off of cereal overall and all of the indifferent people chose it was not healthy. I should have phrased the question better or ask the question to an extent because I did not originally keep in mind that some cereals are full of sugar and are unhealthy and other cereals are healthy and full of Fibre and nutrients.

MEAN, MEDIAN, AND MODE Mean: 30%, 29%, 16%, 14%, 11%, 9%, 31%, 21%, 19%, 14%, 15% divided by eleven equals 19%. Median: The middle of 9%, 11%, 14%, 14%, 15%, 16%, 19%, 21%, 29%, 30%, 31% is 16%. Mode: The most common of 9%, 11%, 14%, 14%, 15%, 16%, 19%, 21%, 29%, 30%, 31% is 14%.

SAMPLING METHODS
10
CONVENIENT SAMPLE I chose convenient sampling as our method of sampling because my partner and I started collecting votes late and there was not much time to do another method. Because we did a convenient sample, there was the danger of us being biased on who to survey. However, I was unbiased because we walked throughout the halls to survey and not staying in one spot, we surveyed everyone I saw, and I also surveyed people we did not know. Also, my method was very successful because I received a variety of different answers and made sure that everyone made their choice based off of their opinion and not us leading them to a particular answer for the most part.

SIMPLE RANDOM SAMPLE If I were to do a simple random sample, I would have gotten a class lists for most of my classes, then randomize numbers and chose the students that are in place of that number to be surveyed in those classes. The problem with that is that it may be biased because most of my classes are with 9 th graders so we would only survey one forth of the grades in our school. However, this would be unbiased as well with what we have to work with because we survey the people based off of their last name and a random number that chooses the students. I definitely prefer the method I chose compared to this one mostly because we were able to question students from other grades.
12
SYSTEMATIC SAMPLE If I were to do systematic sampling, I would again get a class list from most of my classes and select a number where we would select people with that number apart from each other. Again the problem with that is it would be biased because most of my classes are with 9 th grade students and most of the votes would be in a 9 th graders perspective. However it would chose the students in the classes out randomly which in that case would be unbiased. Again I would chose convenient sampling over systematic sampling because were able to survey students from a variety of grades.
13
VOLUNTARY SAMPLE And finally, I would do a voluntary sample by telling the what our survey was on and waiting for those to come, and to make an online version and addressing it on social media so those online could vote if they so choose to. The problem with that is you are relying on people wanting to be surveyed and you may not get as many results. Also, it might be biased because if someone want to prove a point about something, then they will come up and ask to get surveyed instead of getting chosen random. Once again, I prefer convenient sampling because the survey would not be very efficient if you had to wait for those to come up to you to get surveyed.
