Our project was to create electricity from a windmill. Our frame is made of an electrical switch box. A nail goes through the middle with the magnets attached to it and a fan blade on one end. We have 200 ft of magnetic wire that is wrapped around the box. So when the nail and magnets spin due to wind it creates an electro-magnetic field that creates electricity and lights the bulb.

The windmill generates energy by first using the fan blades to capture the kinetic energy of the wind and convert it into rotational mechanical energy. Then the mechanical energy spins the blades, which spins the nail and the magnets and creates a magnetic field that results in electrical energy being produced. The electrical energy is used to power the light bulb.

Our main problem we faced while constructing our project was finding magnetic wire, it was sold out all over Knoxville. After that we only faced minor problems with getting the fan to stay in place because the nail was sliding around in the hole we cut for it.
