Our distinctively Christian Ethos is shown in our community spirit Older and younger pupils learn together – building care, responsibility and aspiration We value our parents. Here we are awarding them with medals at a thank you assembly. We build the children's awareness of the wider community through relevant visitors and discussions. Family Learning Weeks help to build up relationships and supportive networks between different members of the school community.

Sports Tournaments at other schools build team spirit and generosity of spirit towards other teams. Children experienced a day of engineering challenges at Marshalls, inspiring them with courage to consider future careers in engineering.

Our distinctively Christian Ethos is shown in our community spirit What our children say about being in a church school “A church school is good because we build the school around values so everyone can appreciate what other people believe in and we can have more agape, thankfulness and courage than other schools. ” “A Christian school is good because we have singing assemblies and they let everyone enjoy singing with fun songs. They also help us to understand because the songs are very thoughtful, they link to how Jesus sacrificed himself for us” Even though it’s a church school, if there are other religions it will teach us how to show agape and be kind. “It’s good that we have a church school because the school shows agape and is very kind to others and we raise money for things like fair trade and water aid and building schools in India“ “In a Christian school if something bad happens to you, they go into much deeper thought of what has happened. Where another school would just say “this is what you’ve done and this is the consequence.”. Here you think about why it happened and how to change “

Our distinctively Christian Ethos is shown in our community spirit What parents say about us “I have heard Bible stories when volunteering in the classroom. The hymns and songs they sing are great. The services for Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day and the displays in the classroom are really good.” “Her independence is more strengthened...and her manners are very appropriate. All this can only be attributed to the utmost care and compassion her teacher’s lives show her. Her teaching assistants serve as her role models and mentors. She will be forever grateful for all the love, quality time, and many discoveries she has experienced in school.” “His teacher and his TAs always put so much effort in with him in a way that he understands therefore getting him to push himself that little bit more.” “I think my children have very good understanding of Christian festivals. They enjoy going to church.”

Our distinctively Christian Ethos is shown in our community spirit How we are seen to serve by our community. “The inclusive nature and far-reaching reputation of the school as a centre of excellence for children with additional needs, means that the Local Authority receives many parental requests to place their child there.” Chloe Chapman (SEN Caseworker) “I would like to thank your school for all the tremendous work you have done with Eric, I really do believe you saved him. You showed him the good in others and because of that he now shines.” Dawn Graham (FIP worker) “All the students are well supported by dedicated and knowledgeable staff” Janice Frankham (Outreach – Castle Special School) “I want to let you know how much your co- operation and inclusive approach are appreciated. In the past we have found some school s reluctant to give pupils an opportunity in this way, so my colleagues in SEND, Admissions and myself really do value your approach.” Carol Way (County Inclusion Manager)
