9. How do we match students with mentors? Application process (fall) Matching occurs after interview (spring) Already had mentors but wanted to be officially paired ▫Already meeting with faculty/staff but didn’t know first gen connection ▫Want to get to know someone “LT or Paul Factor”

10. What did we learn? Trust needs to be established Some pairings work immediately; some students need more time before getting a faculty mentor

11. What do the mentors provide? Network of support PRO-ACTIVE, hands on mentoring! ▫Sometimes interventions are necessary Unmasking the hidden curriculum ▫Be explicit about processes ▫Can’t make assumptions about students’ knowledge ▫Ultimately, encourage self-efficacy
