Their population is usually small and they often don’t get access to all of the same services as people who live in the cities. Trains and road trains are used to transport resources, including live animals, from rural areas in Australia. The roads are often straight and long.

Australia is rich in a variety of natural resources, such as coal, iron and copper. Sheep, cattle, grain and fruit crops are the main agricultural industries. Industrial manufacturing (for example: transportation equipment, food processing and steel) is also important.
