In line with the Youth Sport Trust Gifted and Talented Policy Kingsbury SSP aims to provide a programme that : “focuses not only on high achievers but also on those who show sporting potential, including pupils at risk of underachieving and those from disadvantaged areas” YST 2009

PESSYP TARGETS Gifted & Talented (G&T) in PE and Sport is one of the 10 strands of the Physical Education and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) Overall aim of creating a world class system for physical education and sport.

EVERY CHILD MATTERS The gifted and talented strand contributes to the government ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes Provides a an accessible and exciting resource for schools to implement

KINGSBURY SSP G&T PROGRAMME Outcomes – To include all students in the partnership the within the Gifted and Talented identification process Provision of staff training on G&T identification Provision of accessible and clear resources for schools SSCo support throughout the programme

HULA HOOP THROW EQUIPMENT 4 hoops (same size) marked line for students to throw from 4 bean bags ACTIVITY Aim to throw the bean bag into the hoops, further the better 1 – with eyes open facing the hoops 2 – with eyes shut facing the hoops 3 – with eyes open back to the hoops 4 – with eyes shut and back to the hoops

BASKETBALL DRIBBLE EQUIPMENT Basketballs ACTIVITY Dribble both basketballs without losing control 1 – standing position 2 – go to one knee then back to standing 3 – sit down then back to standing

SAQ LADDERS EQUIPMENT SAQ ladders ACTIVITY Move along the ladder 1 - both feet in each gap 2 - one foot in each gap 3 - other variations

THROWING EQUIPMENT Tennis balls Target ACTIVITY Using an over arm throw aim to hit the target - increase/decrease distance from target - use of weak hand - alternating hands

BALANCE EQUIPMENT Netballs/basketballs Wall ACTIVITY Chest pass ball against the wall with weight on one leg -Alternate legs while throwing ball - Close eyes

AGILITY X X – start position EQUIPMENT 5 tennis balls Cones Hoop ACTIVITY Students have to start at x and go to each cone, pick up tennis ball and return to x, put down tennis ball and repeat until all balls are in the hoop

SKIPPING EQUIPMENT Skipping ropes ACTIVITY Skipping on the spot -reverse skipping -cross over

THROWING 2 EQUIPMENT Tennis balls ACTIVITY Using underarm throw against a wall alternating hands - Increase distance from wall
