HPE Storage Strategy and Market Position 2 HPE Flash Strategy Bring your own deice to work, new applications and growing data sizes lead to major issues for IT. Compute has got cheaper and faster, network bandwidth has also increased, storage has now become the bottle neck in the datacernter. We here a lot about flash and the technologies available to make the “effective cost per GB lower” such as dedup and compression BUT the real business drivers are now starting to become clear: Poor User Experience – really born out of VDI projects which have gone wrong BUT now many people want business applications to work and behave like apps on their phones and tablets. User experience can be massively impacted by slow storage, improve the speed of the response time from the storage and typically the user experience improves or is very good, Increased costs – the old method to fix any issue was to throw more “tin” at it, with smaller budgets, power, cooling and space constraints this is no longer a viable option for many organisations. The days of throwing 200 disks at an issue are fading fast especially when SSD drives can deliver the same performance with just a small number of disks in comparison. Missed SLA – really we are seeing the same storage type SLAs such as uptime, Recovery Time and Recovery Objective BUT now we are seeing information delivery service times – reports which have to be run and delivered in certain time frames, batch jobs which must complete in a certain timeframe for example. IT and service providers are using information delivery service levels to differentiate themselves from the competition in a market which no longer wants to buy in a cost per GB model, These are the drivers for flash, the compaction technology I just the enabler to allow flash to deployed on a much wider scale 3 TCO - The Main Driver for the All Flash Datacenter 4 HPE 3PAR All Flash Array and Data Services Overview 5 All Flash Array Use Cases (if time permits) 6

To keep pace, IT must transform into a value creator
Cloud Enabled, Mobile Ready Hybrid Infrastructure Traditional IT Hosting workloads & applications Rapidly creating and brokering new services Providing hardened systems & networks Predicting threats and managing risk To respond, IT must transform from a cost center to a value creator for the New Style of Business and a bridge from the traditional to the new. And achieving that transformation is where HPE leads like no other company. We’ve been helping our customers and partners deal with big IT challenges and major shifts in technology for decades. Today this means helping you manage traditional IT better while enabling you to migrate to the public and private cloud at a pace and in a way that is appropriate for your business. This New Style of Business demands a New Style of IT and every single one of you are participants and drivers on this journey. But you have to pick a transformation partner with the vision and breadth to create the best possible future. And make no mistake, we are that partner. In its most basic form, that is the mission of Hewlett Packard Enterprise. We can take your IT environments and make them more efficient, more productive and more secure as we bridge the traditional to the new. We will enable organizations to act rapidly on ideas by creating, consuming and re-configuring new solutions, experiences and business models . . And we will deliver infrastructure that is built from components that can be composed and re-composed easily and quickly to meet the shifting demands of the applications driving your enterprise. One of the first steps in achieving this kind of flexibility and agility is to break down the old infrastructure silos that make enterprises averse to new ideas internally and vulnerable to new ideas externally. It’s no good designing compelling new experiences and services if your infrastructure cannot support them. The right compute platform can have a significant impact on business outcomes and performance. Storage that thinks as much as it stores. Networking that moves information faster and more securely than ever before. Orchestration and management software that lets you know what is happening and where…and provides predictive capabilities. [Pause] The resources and solutions we provide recognize an important reality: We all live in a hybrid world with a blend of public cloud, private cloud and traditional IT. Apps and data are everywhere, creating new demands. That’s why infrastructure isn’t one size fits all anymore. It isn’t just in your data center. It isn’t just in the cloud. Your infrastructure has to be everywhere at the right cost, with the right service offering, at the right performance, with the right management, at the right scale. Some of our competitors come at this from a services only perspective, others just from software or hardware. We're the only company that brings it all to you. The company best equipped to build a bridge from where your IT is today to where it needs to be. And we don’t dictate how you do it. HPE can assist you on the journey that is unique for you. The way you want to consume…the way you want to transform…the outcomes you want…the support you need, when and where you need it. With the right financial architecture for you. Providing real-time insight & understanding Managing data Delivering continuously Responding and reacting Contain Cost Create Outcomes Accelerate your rate of positive change

HPE 3PAR StoreServ ‘flash first’ portfolio
The same features and functionality across the portfolio 1 Operating System Architecture Management Console Let’s look at the new hardware then. Every 8000 series array directly replaces a 7000 series model in a like-for-like approach. The 8000 series obviously features all the hardware upgrade we know about: Gen5 ASIC, 12Gb SAS backend, native 16Gb FC, 12Gb SAS drives and so on. The series is a new hardware architecture for HPE and marks a new milestone in performance and scalability. As you can see, we now have more all flash and converged flash platforms than direct hybrid, showing HP’s position as leading with flash. 8450 / / 20850 8440 / 20800 8400 8200

HPE 3PAR StoreServ platform positioning
Meet requirements from mid-range to enterprise with ONE platform HPE 3PAR StoreServ 20000 Consolidate multiple enterprise arrays SME to large enterprise customers Market-leading performance So why two different platforms and where do they fit? The 8000 series is designed as a mid-range platform which offers the kind of performance and scalability that mid-range customers need (plus a little extra). The series are designed for massive performance workloads, consolidation of multiple enterprise-class arrays and reducing footprint in large enterprises. What’s worth remembering is that both platforms run the same operating system and have the same features and functionality… move to the next slide to see the second part of this… HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000 All flash performance SMB to SME requirements Consolidation of mid-range arrays

Optimized -Federation and Online Import
3PAR with Federation Deployment Native and Built-in Management One-Step One Interface Efficiency Thin Aware Performance No Impact Our Storage Federation vision is to create Agile datacenters that can be managed as aggregated elastic pools of capacity. In June we will be making this much more of a reality when we announce bi-directional peer motion capabilities. This is a huge differentiator for us… particularly in enterprise environments where its common for customers to have multiple storage systems within their data center. Now they have a simple and efficient way to optimize cost by moving data back and forth based on their SLAs So here’s just one of the many ways your customers could take advantage of this feature…. -They could run most of their dev and test on thier most cost effective platform – a 2 node 7200 -For their production workloads where they want to optimize cost – go with a 4 node 7400 -For their production workloads where they want to optimize performance - go enterprise flash with a 20800 -And finally, when they need application acceleration for their development or production workloads – go with a And with the 20850, I’m also showing the added flexibility of essentially virtually carving up the system by IOPs/latency/bandwidth with Priority Optimization for Quality of Service to assure SLAs for their production workloads. And of course Priority Optimization could be deployed on any 3PAR system We are also adding HDS support to our Online Import capabilities. We now support simple and efficient migration from EMC VMAX, EMC VNX and HDS. All this can be done without the complexity and risk associated with adding a hw appliance. Instead deploy a sw refined strategy and map workloads with one click. 1 Online Import Online Import
