4. Advisor Communication and Intervention Email early – invite the students in Take inventory of how they’re doing  How are you feeling?  Are you keeping up?  Tell me about your daily/weekly schedule.  What are your most natural study habits?

5. Advisor Communication and Intervention Signs to watch for:  Are they picking up on basic learning objectives?  Are they comparing themselves to their peers?  Do they look or seem physically exhausted?  Do they seem ready to break down? Disappointing score on first exam  Reach out for a face-to-face meeting quickly  Motivation may now exist to change study habits  Emphasize that they still have time to recover
