Moving to Middle School
Shelly If your student thinks…
21
“I’ll get lost!” Overland Trail Middle is bigger than your child’s elementary school. There are opportunities to come in with your student in August to tour the building. OTMS students
22
“I won’t remember what class is next.”
No worries…you will have mentors to help and a 6th grade orientation day in August. OTMS students
23
“I won’t be with my friends.”
In some classes your students won’t be with their friends, but that could help them meet new people! OTMS students
24
“I won’t be able to open my locker.”
You might want to bring your student to the school to practice opening their locker before school starts. Students will also get a chance to practice opening their locker at locker registration and 6th Grade Orientation. The teachers and staff can help your student if they get in a jam. OTMS students
25
“I won’t know the rules.”
The staff will go over all the guidelines at the beginning of the year. Your planner will also have these printed in them. OTMS students
