A Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis: Freshmen Year at Three Texas Universities Kaily Moore, Morgan Thomi, and Chris Waddell

How much are you paying for tuition? – Texas Tech- $196.00 per credit hour – Most degrees require 120 hours of undergraduate classes – $196.00 X 120 hours = $23,520.00 This cost doesn’t include housing, meal plans, parking, etc. How does this compare to other universities? Graphic 1: Clip Art

Researched Universities – Texas Tech University, University of Texas, and Texas A&M University Primary research – online survey Secondary research – official university websites Universities were compared on variances in benefits offered to first year students living on campus.

2003 Texas state Legislature decision on who regulates college tuition – 104% increase in tuition 10 years after Figure 1: Texas Tribune Increase of tuition at Texas universities within five years.

Criteria: tuition for 12 credit hours, on-campus housing, parking expenses, meal plans, and university sporting event tickets Data compiled from official university websites Constraints: outdated statistical information, restricted to freshman paying in-state tuition
