Summary of The Article Have you ever heard of a saying about western weddings? Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. The “old”, “new”, “borrowed”, “blue” have different symbols.

“Something old” Symbolizes the connection with the bride’s family and the past.

“Something new” Symbolizes good luck and success in the bride’s new life.

“Something borrowed” Reminds the bride’s that friends and family will help her when she needs them to.

“Something blue” Is a symbol of faithfulness and loyalty.

After the wedding, the bride will throw her bouquet to other single woman. The single woman who catches the bouquet is believed to be the next who will marry. Whatever the bride wears, it is a tradition that she be the best- dressed woman at the wedding party.

In ancient China, the brides took a sedan to the groom’s place, and they were all dressed in red. The ceremony master would usually say “Pay respect to heaven and earth.” “Bow to your parents.” “New couples bow to each other.” And then, “Send to the new bedroom.”

There is something that Chinese brides have to do. It is important that, just like the western culture, brides and brooms change the rings!!!

There is some saying about the ancient Chinese wedding that at the first night after they got married, when the new couple took off their clothes, if the bride put her clothes on the broom’s, the husband would be loyal to the wife and listen to his wife forever.

I didn’t know what a foreign wedding was like until I read this article. I thought only the Chinese wedding has lots of symbols, but it seemed that the western wedding has as much as Chinese.
