OJJDP funding is for youth under 18. 10

YouthBuild Mentoring ~ We’re Building Bridges to Great Futures Lessons Learned: Successful YouthBuild Mentoring Programs… Employ group mentoring activities to support one-on-one relationships. Participate in optional YouthBuild USA sponsored training and TA. Have strong community partnerships that are instrumental in activities between mentors and mentees. Integrate mentoring into all aspects of the YouthBuild program. Have leaders that take ownership of mentoring initiative. 12

YouthBuild Mentoring ~ We’re Building Bridges to Great Futures OJJDP Grant Basics 2013 National Mentoring Award $4,000,000 over 3 years Period: October 2013 – September 2016 Mentees: 16 & 17 year old YB participants Matches: 1700 lasting 15 months or longer Provide subawards to 47 YB programs in 38 States – 31 YouthBuild Existing Mentoring Programs – 16 YouthBuild programs new to mentoring 13

YouthBuild Mentoring ~ We’re Building Bridges to Great Futures OJJDP Grant Deliverables: YouthBuild USA Supportive TA from YouthBuild USA – Personal/Customized Coaching: Remote & Onsite – 24X7 access to CoP Training/Products to include focus on: – Transition Mentoring – Trauma-informed Systems – Working with Gang-exposed Youth Peer Mentoring A-Team 15

YouthBuild Mentoring ~ We’re Building Bridges to Great Futures RFP Funding & Starting Match Levels: STARTER Programs Level A. New Sites Subawards $7k (Year 1), $10k (Years 2 & 3) YEAR 1 Establish protocols for formal mentoring program Develop a start-up plan with mentor recruitment strategy Participate in all mentoring trainings and technical assistance Recruit, screen, and train 7 mentors in preparation of launch Launch group mentoring by 9/30/2014 3 - 7 matches by 12/31/2014 YEARS 2 & 3 Maintain 3- 7 mentoring relationships that started in prior year Recruit, screen, train additional mentors for next round 16

YouthBuild Mentoring ~ We’re Building Bridges to Great Futures RFP Funding & Starting Match Levels: Existing Sites Level B. Existing Sites $20k. For 12 successful matches, start with 16 matches Level C. Existing Sites $38k. For 25 successful matches, start with 33 matches 17
