Empowerment is the process by which people, communities and institutions, contribute to the control and creation of their lives. Empowerment involves delegation, individual responsibility, self- confidence and decision-making capacity to act effectively. Sometimes it’s talk about empowerment as a freedom and the ability to do the work, to know how that work can be done differently and better. Empowerem ent can be viewed from two perspectives : empowerement as the target to increase the individual's self-confidence by providing him necessary information, resources, knowledge; empowerement as an appropriate environment that encourages the individual to develop their knowledge and competence, creating conditions to autonomy, freedom, and the responsibility development. In conclusion... Students' educational empowerment is understood as a social learning process that in individual level helps students to control their personal experience of sustainable development, self-apply it for innovative problem solving, and their future creation. Following the tradition of environmental education which was thought as a main instrument for solving environmental problems, education once again seems to serve as a prior vehicle to reach the ambitious goals of sustainability.
