Major emphasis on presentation and writing skills (every student does 1 major presentation) Strong commitment required from our project “suppliers” (usually faculty members in Medical School) Interaction with other programs (OT in the past, Business school in the future) Final poster competition funded by and judged by a corporate sponsor, who also provide lecturers and engineers during the semester Washington University in St. Louis Course Title: BME 401 – Biomedical Engineering Design

Describe particularly novel and/or effective methods you use to teach innovation & entrepreneurship We are developing a partnership with the Skandalaris Entrepreneurship Program in the business school, including their director giving lectures on Entrepreneurship/Startups Our design course is cross-referenced with their program Encouraging students to “double-major” Olin Cup Competition (year-long competition with prizes of $50k and $20k for startup) Washington University in St. Louis

How do you measure outcomes? Since we still are at planning stage, we have not develop true outcome measures yet for the Entrepreneurship aspect of our class. Washington University in St. Louis
