Fine Arts Program rated as Exemplary_ Fine Arts Program rated Exemplary. The Gonzalez fine arts program did an exceptional job representing our campus throughout the district and community. Students participated in numerous activities including art competitions, U.I.L. events, and various concerts. Our students received recognition for their efforts at different community competitions. Mr. Macias and his choir students perform for Author Dr. Love and Prekinder students.

Gonzalez Elementary Wellness and Physical Education Program rated Exemplary. Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Exemplary. The Gonzalez Elementary P.E. staff did an astounding job getting students to participate in basketball, indoor soccer, monster track indoor volleyball and flag football. We not only ensured physical wellness for our students, but also for our parents through several nutrition sessions conducted at our parent meetings. This was the first year our district provided two campus health screenings in which we had a high percentage of teachers participate. We held our first campus blood drive this Fall. Gonzalez teachers anxiously wait to receive their flu shot in the Fall. Wellness and Physical Education Programs…

Gonzalez Elementary Community & Parental Involvement Program rated Recognized. Community and Parental Involvement Program rated Recognized. Gonzalez parents showed tremendous support and involvement throughout the year. They were our key factor in making our community service projects a complete success. This year we raised over $2,000 in the Pennies for Patients project. We also, had our Student Council spearhead our first annual coat drive. Staff and students donated more that 200 coats to “Tim’s Coats” and to our students in need. The Recycling club was established and did an awesome job working with the campus. Our canned food drive was a success with 2,143 cans donated to the community! Community and Parental Involvement… Parents attended weekly meetings and were an integral component of our campus; helping with many activities. Gonzalez Elementary was recognized as having the most parents at the campus for the school year.

Gonzalez Elementary School 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary. 21 st Century Workforce Development Readiness rated Exemplary. This year our faculty and staff did an outstanding job in taking a College Readiness approach by displaying College- theme doors and encouraged our students that college is within their reach. Our counselors also did a phenomenal job in coordinating our annual career fair with more than 21 participants from our community. Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Recognized Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Recognized. Gonzalez Elementary provided our students with multiple learning opportunities to help them succeed and prevent them from dropping out. Students were able to attend tutorials through various means such as after school, morning tutorials, and Saturday tutorials. During these sessions students made use of different software programs including Compass Learning, Think Through Math and I-station. The 5 th graders also, had the opportunity to engage in learning through technology in each of their core classes by having access to individual laptops. Students during tutorials…

Gonzalez Elementary Second Language Acquisition rated Exemplary English as a Second Language Programs rated Exemplary. Gonzalez Elementary participated in culturally rich activities such as the first annual “Fiesta Reading Restaurant” and our customary Charro Days Gonzalez Parade. The students, teachers, parents, and staff had an opportunity to participate in these exciting activities. Teachers and students created a culturally rich environment. “Like teacher…like student”. Our support staff participating in the Charro Days events! Our First Annual Fiesta Reading Restaurant was a huge success!

Gonzalez Elementary Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized Technology integration was critical in the testing areas this year. We we had students testing STAAR A on computers. The district had the second graders, and G.T. students test on the computers for their NRT testing. The lower grades had I-Pads to use with educational games. We also had the upper grades implementing Compass Learning, LWS, I-Station and Think Through Math software to support the reading, science and math content areas. Lastly, the district provided laptops for the entire fifth grade population to use in class. Students used technology to prepare for state assessments and support creative, innovative, lifelong learning.

Gonzalez Elementary Gifted and Talented Program Rated Recognized. Gifted and Talented Rated Recognized. The Gifted and Talented program participants were very successful this year. The Destination Imagination Teams expanded and added the Rising Stars. In addition, the Gonzalez Chess Team did incredible and brought home several trophies throughout the year.
