The clean water act is a federal law in the United States that sets regulations to eliminate releases of high amounts of toxic substances into the water. This act was put in motion to completely eliminate additional water pollution by 1985, and ensure that surface waters would meet necessary standards

The safe drinking water act was put in place by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure clean drinking water for living things and safe habitats for aquatic creatures.
