SECU House Family Dinner 5 Anderson Community Service June 9, 2013

SECU Family House provides housing, healing, and hope to families with an adult patient being treated for a critical illness or injury at UNC Hospitals or its affiliated clinics.

Julie is all smiles as food for the SECU House dinner is loaded up for delivery. Julie was instrumental in coordinating this community service endeavor. Here we go…

Hand washing- always a must! Way to go Rachel!! The SECU House has a wonderful kitchen with plenty of room to prepare our buffet. Ashley and Simone are busy preparing a nutritious and beautiful salad while Rachel gives them verbal support.

Ashley having fun slicing and dicing as salad preparation is in full swing. Ivy and her sister, June, cutting it up in the kitchen.

Simone even had the tomatoes dancing!!! Desserts to be drooled over- yummy! Linda and Rachel supervising the preparation.

Please Mom????? Linda cutting into a variety of homemade lasagnas- meaty, meatless, spinach and vegetable. Decadent mile high chocolate cake, Italian cannoli, assorted cheese cake, Red velvet cake, Pineapple cake, and Coconut cake… oh where to begin???

Ashley cutting into her scrumptious coconut cake- her technique being closely watched by Rachel and her girls. OOOO it is soooo good!! Ivy slicing a sweet treat-pineapple cake with whipped cream topping. (Smile Ivy- paparazzi present)

All the preparation is now complete! Our buffet is about to begin which will provide a home cooked meal to 25-30 hungry family members of patients here at UNC HealthCare. Rachel, Linda, Ashley, Simone, Ivy, Kathy

The moment is here!! With a warm welcome from Linda, directions are given and the buffet began promptly at 6pm.

Musical entertainment was provided by Rachel’s very talented daughter’s- Katelaine and Jackylaine. A very successful dinner! Until next time SECU House…

Thank you!! Many many thank yous go out to the 5 Anderson staff for not only financial contributions but all the time spent making and preparing the wonderful meal that we were able to provide to the family members staying at the SECU House. We were showered with thank yous and a multitude of compliments not only for the meal but for our compassion and dedication to the well being of their family members in our care.
