Why Vodcast? For the same reasons that we do PowerPoint Projects or Podcast. To give students new, fresh projects that not only demonstrate their knowledge of the material, but give them new and imaginative ways to do so. Vodcasting, with the addition of blue screening, can give students limitless options to express themselves.

Resources Online Our Moodle Site http://moodle.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us  Staff Development Conference Materials  Or http://tinyurl.com/ntvodcasthttp://tinyurl.com/ntvodcast All resources presented here are listed or shortcut there!

Step 1 – Clear Guidance Like any Student Project, clear guidance is essential in a clear outcome. This is more important in a Video Project where students are given more opportunity to express individual or group creativity. Rubrics make the best way to ensure material is covered while still giving flexibility. Sample

Step 2 – Have Students Generate Concrete Ideas Brainstorm Filter and decide Create a cohesive storyboard Create a script Decide roles

Step 3 – Video Capture For traditional scenes you can really use anything  Camera with motion and sound  Webcams  Video Cameras Blue Screening adds another dimension altogether

Blue Screening on the cheap…real cheap

Step 3 – Video Capture Tools VirtualDub  Capture tool to avi format Wax2.0e  Bluescreen tool

Step 4 – Video Editing There are a lot of options out there, and many can be very expensive.  MovieMaker (or iMovie) works just fine.  Additional transitions and effects are available for both.

Step 5 – Video Posting For it to be a true Vodcast, it should be posted on the web with a feed, and this can be done through any traditional podcasting service. We use the Moodle Module to post on our website.  Simple Podcasting
