Height Sudden growth spurt occurs Middle childhood--Average of 2 inches per year Young teens—average of 3-5 inches per year Chart on page 514 shows average height Hands and feet grow first, arms and legs then torso Can cause child to feel awkward and clumsy Stretch marks may occur

Weight Average weight gain of 6.5 lbs per year Age 10-11: may gain more weight due to puberty Heredity has influence as well an environment EXAMPLES???

Teeth Lose all 20 primary teeth Permanent teeth are larger and more jagged looking 32 permanent teeth Should be brushed twice a day and dental check ups yearly
