Assignment Log Reading Log Class Website (access thru LAHS website) What’s each day like? My Goals/Common Core How is my student’s grade calculated? What if they’re absent/late work? Getting help/Tutorial Center Agenda
3
Ask to see your student’s assignment log! HW is checked every day and Assignment Log is stamped, but not recorded on SIS. On day of test Assignment Log is collected and then entered into SIS. Late HWs are submitted on the day of the test. They are not checked throughout the unit. Assignment Log

Literacy in all subjects is an important goal at LAHS. Will be assigned to read a short section from the math textbook approx. once a week Students will pay attention to their reading process (noting when they hit roadblocks) and interacting with the text (asking questions, making predictions) by completing a two-column reading log. The way to solve a problem (in math and in life) isn’t always immediately apparent (unfortunately). I want my students to become more comfortable with this feeling and not shut down when introduced to something new. My Goals and Common Core
9
Have collaborative time in class to work through problems and talk through the material with their classmates (and me). Assigning problems that require thinking instead of just repeating the same procedure over and over (we do both types). Including “new” problems on quizzes and tests so students have to apply their skills in a way they haven’t seen before. Preparing for Common Core

Tests 55% Quizzes 15% Homework/classwork 10% Final exam20% (Semester 80%, Final Exam 20%) Grading
11
Absent HW accepted for full credit if done by next class. Missed quizzes will be assigned a score based on the performance on the chapter test (for quick turn around). Late Work Late homework is accepted for partial credit (up to 80%) and is due on the day of the test. Retakes Must work with a tutor for 30 min doing test corrections (form will be given and available on website). Can retake each chapter test once, with a maximum score of 75%. Absent/Late work/Retakes
