Candidate BackgroundKey ResponsibilitiesKey Behaviours Sys Admin Administrator – Windows Infrastructure Service Stability Provide out of hours on call support on a regular basis (or as demand requires) for the Columbus environment Attend the Overnight Review Meeting to discuss alerts in the Columbus and Oasis Infrastructure platforms and Messaging platforms Respond to ITO/MOM alerts and escalate all significant problems to the Service Line lead Provide ongoing enhancements to morning checks to reduce live service issues and help understand trends Ensure server build frame work is thoroughly tested prior to general deployment System Security Identify patches and hot fixes that can be applied to MS Windows 2000 and 2003 servers and MS applications including SMS and MOM Review security policies to determine system adherence to the latest policies and practices. Include all relevant patches and hot fixes in the latest version of the server build frame work Provide support for Columbus maintenance activities Change Control Raise PFC (Permission for Change) records to allow sufficient time for planning, assessing and mitigating risk Escalate issues to team lead/highlight successful changes Ensure that all PFCs have been appropriately approved prior to execution and are compliant with security policies and practices. Ensure that any significant changes that may impact the Columbus platform are planned in advance. Managing relationships Demonstrates the knowledge and expertise in their field to have credibility with their peers Always follows up and delivers on action points agreed with clients/colleagues Educational and Commercial Experience: Previous experience with Windows server environments BSc Hons degree in computer science [preferred] Experienced with: MS Windows 2000 / 2003 Server Services Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Symantec AntiVirus Symantec Enterprise Security Manager MS Windows XP client Proficient with: HP Proliant Server Hardware SafeCom Secure Printing MS System Management Server Windows Clustering Symantec Enterprise Security Manager MS Virtual Server Windows Quorum VB Scripting Familiar with: MS Exchange 2003 Clustering MS Exchange Server MS Outlook Client Communication Ensure that staff are updated on updated on progress both at a corporate and business unit level against goals and objectives Oral and written communications are tailored to their audience’s needs, well structured, persuasive, concise and based upon fact. Considers all options and if one solution does not work will find a successful alternative quickly The Windows Infrastructure System Administrator role forms part of the Columbus Infrastructure Team within Service Delivery. This team provides 2 nd and 3 rd line support for London Stock Exchange’s user facing systems and operational architecture platforms that underpins the desktop and server estate based Infrastructure including Windows Infrastructure and Messaging components.
