Cost analysis: Original cost New cost BSME fee:QR1,000QR1,000 BSME kit: QR1,150QR1,150 Transport: QR 300QR 100 Buffer: QR 550QR 150 TOTAL: QR3,000QR 2,400

Cost analysis explained: BSME fee QR1,000: The BSME Games entry fee is a pre-defined sum, (set by the BSME Executive Committee) which host schools are required to charge participating children. BSME kit: QR1,150: The new style has been adopted as part of a BSME review where parents requested a more high quality kit. Transport: QR100: Given parental concern, we have scaled back our bus requirements for the Games, resulting in a more competitive price (we will use a bus to transport the team only on Thursday 12 th March). Buffer: QR150: Again, given parental concern, we have scaled back our planned ‘fun activities’ which were due to take place on the afternoon of Saturday 14 th March. We will now request that children are taken home instead. A small buffer still exists which is prudent planning when running a trip of this kind. (In line with DESS policies we will refund any unspent monies at the end of the trip).

Sponsorship: Whilst DESS has been previously fortunate to receive sponsorship to offset the cost of the Games, this is by no means guaranteed. Despite our best efforts to acquire a sponsorship amount for this year’s Games, no offer has been made. We will continue to explore options and should a sponsor come forward at a later date, we will ensure that this figure is used to offset parental costs.

The Friendly Games We are proud to take part in the annual BSME Games which sees the top performing schools from each Middle Eastern country come together to take part in an Olympic Games style event, featuring five different sports: Swimming - Mixed Athletics - Mixed Football - Boys Netball - Girls Basketball – Mixed Staff Members Mr Wilkinson / Miss Gardner/ Mr Elliott/ Miss Francis / Mrs Hudson / Mrs Castles / Mrs Murray / Coach Ahmed

Selection Process Whilst we are thrilled to offer your child a place on this year’s BSME squad, we cannot give any guarantees at this stage that they will compete in any given event. In a worst case scenario, this may result in your child traveling to the Games and not actually competing. Whilst we will make every effort to ensure this does not happen, we will be selecting a team based upon overall performance and ability. Why do we do this? (difficult to select a team of this level on a trial alone / the rigorous training programme is in place to develop children in their sport). Training requirements It is mandatory that your child attends regular BSME training sessions as set out in your individualised letter. Failure to attend these sessions may result in your child not competing in a given event.

BSME / DESS handbook As a squad, we hope to represent ourselves in a manner becoming of the school we attend. This responsibility falls upon not only our children, but our staff and parents alike. We have no doubt that all representatives of the DESS BSME team will join in with the ethos of the games.

BSME Travel and casual wear Based upon feedback from previous years, we have strived to include a high quality range of garments for our children and staff. Our supplier is Kukri Sports who supply to most of our BSME competitor schools. Please be aware that Kukri sports offer a range of child sizes, and they will be offered to children on a ‘best fit’ scenario. BSME Travel Insurance Due to the fact that we are not traveling abroad this year, there is no requirement to purchase additional travel / health insurance. In the event of accident or injury, an onsite paramedic team will assess your child and respond accordingly.
