HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE LIBRARY The Library resources are a source of authoritative information. NRC and JBI offer best practice clinical summaries available in full text. Onsite, on a Ramsay networked computer, almost all resources are available without a logon. Library Intranet site: http://vwidc95/sites/corporate/library/default.aspxhttp://vwidc95/sites/corporate/library/default.aspx Or www.ramsaylibrary.com.auwww.ramsaylibrary.com.au Accessing the resources offsite requires a personal logon. To gain a personal logon you need to register with the Library on the Registration form. A few resources are not available offsite such as the HIMAA dictionary and ACORN.

SEARCHING
6
HOW TO MAXIMISE SEARCH RESULTS? Example: Purpose: updating a procedure cord clamping - delayed cord clamping in neonates Clinical summaries – best practice – evidence-based Which resources to use? 1. Nursing Reference Center Search on keywords (cord clamping neonate)
7
2. Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Search on keywords: neonate cord clamping
8
3.CINAHL (research database) for latest articles. Search on neonate* AND cord AND clamp* “cord clamp*”
9
SUMMARY Think about the query. What are you looking for? - Procedure content – best practice / evidence based - Which resources would be best for this content? - Each resource has its own functionality. It’s always a good idea to try a few searches in a resource to become familiar with it. Nursing Reference Center and Joanna Briggs Institute (evidence based clinical summaries); CINAHL (latest articles) Use keywords and limits to find content. You may only need keywords. Copy persistent links to share Procedures are usually reviewed regularly – both NRC and JBI are kept up to date, therefore they are good sources for current clinical information. Include persistent links in the procedure references so that staff may access the full text if they wish.

18
Q. How can you share journal articles that are included in the Library collection? Use links to the articles (in procedures and training)
19
COPYRIGHT AND SHARING INFORMATION The best links to use are called persistent links. Persistent links are attached to each article in Cinahl, NRC+ and JBI. In Nursing Reference Center, click on the article title to go to its detailed citation. On the right hand side of the screen there will be a persistent link icon. Clicking on this will bring up the article’s persistent link in the centre of the screen. Copy this link and share it. A persistent link will take you to the article in the database it comes from.
