The book shares how to generate high levels of attention and engagement as a result of careful planning and execution of specific strategies.  How do I feel?  Am I interested?  Is this important?  Can I do this? Specific strategies you can use: ◦ Tools to increase students' interest in the learning process. ◦ Focused instruction in vocabulary to boost academic performance. ◦ Connect with students on the emotional level.

9 Considerations for Today What “engagement” materials and resources (some that have already been created) can you share with the other affiliates and schools across the state? How will you share them with them? (wikispace, web page, repository, moodle?) What missing materials do you need to create and share? (do you need to create videos on something new? Handouts for a specific tool?) What other statewide projects or materials creation would you you like to see happen? What other things would you like to create with help from another group?

10 Considerations for Today Guidelines that will help create an effective working group (if we do some product development) 1. Treat each other with dignity and respect 2. Listen first to understand – honor air space! 3. Be creative and have fun! 4. Honor time commitments 5. Be open to change 6. Do your part- as a learner AND a sharer 7. Communicate! Communicate! Communicate!
