Marc Labiche (marc.labiche@stfc.ac.uk) 15 th AGATA week, 18 th -20 th Nov 2014, GANIL, Caen.

Outlines  General developments of the AGATA code  Future Developments and Activities  Some simulation results  “VAMOS realistic simulations with AGATA package” (See report from Michal Ciemala - GANIL)  "Geant4 simulations of the GSI source run" (See report from Joa Ljungvall - CSNSM Orsay) AGATA + EXOGAM

General Developments What’s new in the agata code svn repository? Compilation either with make or with cmake Tested with GEANT4 9.6.p02 9.10 version (and previous) To compile with Geant4.10p0, you may need to: replace: #include "/usr/local/clhep/2.1.4.1/include/CLHEP/Units/GlobalSystemOfUnits.hh“ by: #include "G4SystemOfUnits.hh" Implementation of the PARIS detector done ! (Courtesy of Michal Ciemala) AgataAncillaryParis.cxx &.hh Ancillary ID number 19 Invoked via command :./Agata –a 1 19

General Developments./Agata –a 1 19 idle> /control/execute macros_ganil/vis/agata8T4D.mac Default: Four 3x3 PARIS Clusters at 90 degrees. Distance to target: same as Agata at Nominal position

General Developments AGATA+PARIS+FATIMA-like:./Agata –a 2 18 19 idle> /control/execute macros_ganil/vis/agata8T4D.mac Default in Simulation: Four 3x3 PARIS Clusters at 90 degrees at ~ 23 cm Four 2x2 Fast Timing Detectors at 90 degrees at ~15 cm (Mechanical drawing, courtesy of I. Burrows)

General Developments Implementation of the Target/Chamber mechanical structure detector AgataAncillaryGSIChamRing.cxx &.hh Ancillary ID number 20 Invoked via command:./Agata –a 1 20 Target/Source position

Future developments/Activities Simulation mini-school (?) The last one was in Nov. 2013: http://npg.dl.ac.uk/AGATA/http://npg.dl.ac.uk/AGATA/ To combine with Data analysis school (?) G4 MultiThreading feature for AGATA code - on going. In principle straight forward to use, but for AGATA code there’s an issue a recently added class AgataReactionPhysics (new evt generator for more realistic simulations).

Future developments/activities Should we try to transpose the AGATA code into the Simulation and data analysis framework: FairRoot ? FairRoot is maintained at GSI/FAIR and is used by most future experiments at FAIR: CBM → CBMRoot, PANDA → PANDARoot, R3B (NUSTAR) → R3BRoot And many more …. So, Agata → AgataRoot for HISPEC/DESPEC collaboration? Obvious interest from HISPEC/DESPEC collaboration. Should make it easier to handle large and complex simulations

ICC/SPIRAL2 meeting on Common Simulation & Data analysis Framework IPN Orsay – 26 th Nov. 2014

Thank you ! Feedback from users and new ideas for improvement / development are also welcome marc.labiche@stfc.ac.uk
