Carnivore An animal that gets food from killing and eating other animals Generally eat herbivores, but can eat omnivores also Important to the ecosystem to keep other species from getting overpopulated Require a large amount of calories

Omnivores A kind of animal that eats either other animals or plants Some will hunt their food while other are scavengers and will eat dead matter Many eat eggs from other animals

Herbivore An animal that gets its energy from eating plants, and only plants They need a lot of energy, so many eat all day long

Types of Vegetarians The practice of abstaining from the consumption of meat

Pescetarian Those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish More people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet

Flexitarian/ Semi-vegetarian Those who eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat

Lacto-ovo Vegetarian Those who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind They do eat eggs and dairy products “Lacto” is Latin for milk and “Ovo” is for egg

Lacto- Vegetarian Those who do not eat eggs, but do eat dairy products

Vegan Vegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other animal-derived ingredients Many refrain from eating foods made using animal prodcts

Raw vegan A raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit They believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost a significant amount of their nutritional value and are harmful to the body.
