Current Situation Schools 2.6% of schools experienced staff accessing illegal material 81.8% of secondary schools experienced issues on social networking sites 60% of schools reporting issues, relate to cyberbullying Parents 22.7% children have access to internet in their bedroom 39.1% of parents know their children have a social networking profile Generational Digital Divide Where is the risk? NEN Safeguarding Group The NEN Safeguarding Group will define and support the provision of the safest online experience for all children connected to the NEN. This vision will be realised by: Agreeing a set of common principles underpinned by policies and advice that are continually reviewed and refined in line with best practice Enable communication channels to promote and raise awareness amongst its communities of safe and responsible online behaviours Enabling collaboration between all NEN partners
