Supplies: composition notebook markers and/or colored pencils 3x5 index cards (200 total) scotch tape glue stick Optional: sticky notes

Full flashcard: use the entire index card term or word on front definition, description, and/or examples on back Horizontal (half) flashcard: cut index card in half horizontally before using (it will then be folded & open like a book) Vertical (half) flashcard: cut index card in half vertically will be used front/back as a “mini” flashcard

Front inside cover- TITLE PAGE Instructions (must include the following): Title: Medical Terminology Notebook Student name Decorate this page with a “medical” theme (you may choose a specific career you are interested in) ▪ use cut outs, stickers, drawings, photos, clip art, etc….

TABLE OF CONTENTS Use 1 st page of notebook (front and back) Set up columns as shown on example Date Title Page

Numbering Pages Page numbers need to be written at the bottom middle of each page (starting with the first “notes” page: see next slide…do not number table of contents) After the pages are numbered, students must enter the information on the Table of Contents. Remember, page numbering will be different for each student! Therefore each Table of Contents should match each individual notebook

From your notes, make a horizontal flashcard for each word part (include detailed description/rules for combining/examples…etc): medical terminology root word prefix suffix combining vowel combining form Make a vertical flashcard for each origin: eponym modern English Greek/Latin Don’t Forget: Number your page(s) Title your page (Intro to Med Term) Add info to Table of Contents (title) All these flashcards should fit on ONE page

Instructions Make a flashcard for each assigned term You should either use ½ or ¼ index card Don’t forget to write the definition “upside down” Align them in 2 vertical rows Don’t forget to put title and page number (and add to Table of Contents)

Assigned Prefixes page(s) will be constructed in the same format as “Intro to Assigned Terms” Don’t forget the title, page number, and to add it to the Table of Contents!

Pick 10 prefixes (the hardest ones for you to remember) Cut 5 index cards in half so you have 10 cards Make a flashcard for those 10 prefixes On front: ▪ Picture of something that reminds you of the term ▪ Write the prefix under the picture On back: definition Secure flashcards to page Flashcard example: Retro- Backwards

Assigned Suffixes Follow same format as “Assigned Prefixes” page Due 1/30/14 Suffix Review Follow same instructions as “Prefix Review” page Due 1/31/14

Glue your ½ page Body Systems Notes page into next page of notebook Add page numbers, title, and place info in TOC as previously instructed!

Your unit notes are printed 1/2 page size Separate (cut) note sheets, then glue each to the pages in your notebook (once notes are completed) Title, number page, and list pages in Table of Contents (as previously instructed) DUE: 2/19/14
