Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” Joshua 21:43–45

What is “The wilderness”? God’s training ground to get you ready for the battle that is ahead and to prepare you for the challenges of living in the land (Taking Canaan) In short we are “Trainin’ for Canaan”

QUESTIONS TO ANSWER What is in God’s training plan? What are the lessons we must learn? How can we be ready to Take the Ground God has planned for you and for us as a church?

The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey... Exodus 3:7-8a (NIV)

God’s Training Plan Stage one: Stage one: Deliverance from Bondage

Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.) So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?” Exodus 15:22-24 (NIV)

God’s Training Plan Stage two: Experiencing the pain of the wilderness

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. Deuteronomy 8:2 NIV

What are the Lessons we must Learn? 1) We must be totally dependent on Him and on nothing else

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV

What are the Lessons we must Learn? 1) We must be totally dependent on Him and on nothing else 2) We must believe that He has a plan and that if we cry out to him he will provide for us

On the first day of the third month after the Israelites left Egypt —on that very day—they came to the Desert of Sinai. Exodus 19:1 NIV

‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Exodus 19:4-5 NIV

Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently. As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him. Exodus 19:18-19 NIV

What are the Lessons we must Learn? 1) We must be totally dependent on Him and on nothing else 2) We must believe that He has a plan and that if we cry out to him he will provide for us 3) Be open to an encounter with God!

How can we be ready to Take the Ground God has planned for you and for us as a church? Follow the Leader Obey His Laws Take the Land or stay in the wilderness
