Secondary: Secondary research is another field of research but it is mainly a summary of a collection of information previously gathered and analysed. Secondary research is commonly used for a way of targeting a market audience, for example analysing a set of information to fit their ideal on ways to target their audience. Methods involved with in secondary research include: Questionnaire analysis Statistics

Advantages and Disadvantages of primary-secondary research: Advantages of Primary research: -The person who carrying out their own specific research would be able to address issues, to their own situation without any confusions. -Primary research will carry out the right set of information that the person wants to address which is useful to them -The person who carries out the information their researching have their own set of control on what they want to do with the result of information. -Primary research allows the person to focus on one specific issue/information, where as secondary research gives out information that not needed. Disadvantages of primary research: -High costs compared to secondary research, as it may be expensive to a marketer involvement and very expensive to consume of carrying out sets of research. -Primary research involve allot of skill and knowledge of developing a research plan, as if not carried out properly the research may not come out successful. -Primary research can become not very feasible, as in some projects information may become very valuable to other investing projects. Advantages of secondary research: -Lower cost in secondary research data, as some information is less expensive than carrying out your own set of information yourselves. -Secondary research can help to classify important research questions. -Secondary research can be a way of targeting very good marketing audiences, earning money, by selling perhaps products people would like just from a summary of information. Disadvantages of secondary research: -Secondary research may not be seen as that much reliable and may be evaluated more to see where certain information was gathered, analysed and presented. -The information of the secondary research has carried out might not be specific to researcher needs, as sometimes secondary data is not often presented in a form that exactly meets the marketer needs and expectations. -Arguments and discussions can occur if information is not specific to a marketer needs. Quantitative research Quantitative research is just really based on asking people about their opinion in a more structure way, which is used for facts and statistics to guide someone in what they want to know. Qualitative Qualitative research deals with descriptions such as data that can be observed and analysed; colours, smells and tastes. What is the difference? The differences between quantitative and qualitative research is shown in the words. Quantitative research is to do with qauntatity that deals with numbers and data that can be measured (quantity) whereas qualitative research is just about people perceptions on none measurable facts.

What genre do you like in a film? This chart shows me that the most popular film genre’s young teenagers prefer to watch nowadays our action, romantic and adventure films. However this chart shows that there was a huge amount of people that picked Action as a top film genre, which gives me a more of an idea on how I could attract my target audience when creating my own film poster. Do you like non friction or friction films? This charts shows the majority of young teenager’s prefer non friction films that friction films. However these result of people preferring non friction films than friction films aren’t a huge difference which is useful for me because I feel that if I made my film poster based on a friction film it wouldn’t really subtract my audience likability of my film poster.
6
Do you have a favourite particular film? This chart gives me a rough idea and understanding of what type of films that some young teenagers like. I research a couple of these films and I saw that the films people wrote down are action films which yet again shows that my target audience like more of an action genre film. What’s the worst film you have seen? This chart shows that many of my audience was unsure and didn’t remember any particular films that they really disliked. By these results from these questions shows I could of perhaps asked a more better question based on a film people have not liked for example “what makes a film unsuccessful or not interesting”?. However some of my audience gave films that they found bad. I did my research on them and found out that the films given are quite friction films or based on real lifestyle like the film Adulthood. Moreover the films people have said are based at their own age group which is quite interesting to know that some young teenagers don’t directly found films age at their age interesting, they prefer more advance

Do you have favourite film actor? is chart shows that many of my audience like the film actor Will Smith which is key information for me because it gives me an idea who might I have starred in my film poster. Furthermore this chart also tells me that many of my audience prefer male actors than women actors which is a another interesting key information because I might have my film poster idea as having a male main star. In addition most of these actors my target audience have mentioned have been in big known famous action and adventure films which yet again tell me my audience have a big interest for the action genre in films. Questions based on my film poster idea Has any film posters made you want to watch the actual film? This chart shows that not many of my audience have seen a poster that made them watch the film to it. However the people who have seen a film poster that has fascinated them watch the film have mentioned them, both where dramatic horror posters and the two other ones were action posters. In addition all of the film posters all stood out, with bold writing, large main images, and powerful bright text. This tells me when making my film poster I should use some of these techniques to grab and attract my type of target audience!

This chart shows what sort of places is common to young teenagers to spot film posters. The most common places my audience have mentioned to have seen a film poster is on busses and bus tops However the rest of the places are quite near as results as the bus top and busses, which shows all these places are successful for my audience to notice a film poster. Moreover when making my film poster I would advertise my poster on each one of these places as I feel there all successful places to advertise and attract a teenage audience. Have you seen a film poster this week? This chart shows that there is a big chance of my audience bumping into film posters anywhere they go as many of my audience have mentioned they have seen a film poster throughout the week. This information is key to me because it tells me when I advertise my film poster allot of my audiences would see it from just the fact that loads of my audience has recognized that they’ve seen a film poster at least one time throughout the week. Where have you seen a film poster?

This chart tells me that allot of my audience think the design and colour in a film poster is what matters when attracting them and also bold writing. This helps me figure out how I would produce my film poster, but also adding every technique my audiences have given to my poster to make it stand out and attract my audience. Which of my poster examples stood out to my audience? What will make a film poster stand out and catch your eyes? This chart shows that the most common film poster my audience like and stood out to them was The Evil Dead. One of my audience mentioned that they liked it because they was more common the film then the rest and one of my audience mentioned they liked the creativity. The least common film poster that never really stood out to my audience was Looper. I’m guessing its because the film poster has two main colours ‘Red and White’. Which guessing the two simple colours aren’t really appealing. From the results I looked at the evil dead and taken it creativity skills as a key example of how I can create my film poster. Improvements: I feel that I gave out good questions in my questionnaire, which was one of my improvements from my other questionnaire we had to do from our first assignment. However I feel in question 4 I could of made my question more specific.

Saul Bass Saul Bass was born in May 8 th 1920’s in Bronx New York United states. His parents was Jewish’s immigrants. Bass was a successful well known American graphic designer and a filmmaker and had a remarkable talent for designing pictures and title sequences for film posters. Bass has managed to work with some incredible film makers in Hollywood such as Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock and many more famous film makers. Moreover Bass has even managed to produce some extraordinary logos in North America, such as the Bell System Logo and the AT&Ts globe logos. More other he has also produced logo’s for United Airlines and Continental airlines which was so successful it became one of the most recognisable designs of all time industry airline logo’s ever to be made. Throughout his early life he graduated from James Monroe High school and then went on to study part time at the Art student’s league in Manhattan. Saul bass started to begin his Art movement carrier in the 1940’s in Hollywood, designing print advertisements for films such like ‘Champaign’ and ‘ The moon is blue’ and more films. Bass’s amazing print designs stood out to a man who he calibrated with when producing a film poster, which lead him to then being asked to create film title sequences for films. His amazing work not just designing film posters but more as film title sequences became the eye to the world of the experience of an audiences contribution to the mood and theme of movies with thin the opening moments. Saul Bass was the first to realise creative potential for movies having opening credits and closing credits of a movie. This was when he started to really conquer his carrier and became very well known for his ability and skills and even knowledge on starting something big for the future in movies.

Two of Saul Bass’s film posters that catch my eye: This film poster by Saul bass ‘The Fixer’ straight away stands out for me because of the unique basic colours, which are not other top but has a way of catching my eyes from just of the bright eye catching depths of blue, black and white. The great graphic of the design of this film poster is so clear and easy to recognise to myself what the film might be about which stands out to me because immediately I get a feeling that the film is perhaps about something needing to be solved and fixed. The main image looks bit complicated because it just one detailed imagine but it has an effect of standing out to me because it makes me question myself to wanting to know more about what the film based on. The bold but neat title of the film poster catches my eye because straight away it’s in white which contrasts from all the blue background colours. Moreover it’s just a simple title and the word ‘Fixer’ automatically gives me some sort of knowledge what the film is going to be about. The slogan being so small does stand out me as well because it gives me an impression that it not really meant to be interesting because it doesn’t want to give out loads of detail and information about the film, it is for us the audience to found out are ourselves on what the film is about.

This film poster by Saul Bass is one of favourites because it has an very interesting but cool design to it. The design of this film poster catches my eye from just the bright mid yellow background which makes the black writing stand out even more. The main image is sharp and bold and catches my eye from the graphic image merge into the text. The much enhanced bold big title immediately catches my eyes and it makes me intrigued to watch the film even more because it gives me an impression that film maybe be really scary. The layout of the film poster also catches my eyes and stands out because its designed in a basic form and it is easy to read and understand and it’s not all over the place. Furthermore the short slogan ‘A Masterpiece of a Modern Horror’ is an very in-depth detail slogan because its short and eye catching and has an quite horror design text to it... which justifies even more that the film is quite an very epic horror film.

I asked people in my class to give me feed back and most of them said my poster was to busy and there was allot of colours making it difficult to read. I didn't like the background of my poster as It was clashing with me and kassim top which also looked to busy for a film poster which is why not my final film poster project.
