1. Environment Photography

2. Introduction The topic I have decided to do is Environment. I have chosen this topic because I find it would be an interesting subject and there is a wide range of things you can photograph. Within this topic I will be photographing pictures of landscapes, flowers and trees in places such as parks and gardens. The artists my work will be inspired by are Adam Burton, Imogen Cunningham and Tony Sweet.

4. Composition Techniques Rule of Thirds The rule of thirds involves mentally dividing up the image using 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines. You then position the important elements in your scene along those lines, or at the points where they meet. Leading Lines Leading lines are one of the most effective and under-utilised compositional tools available to photographers. They’re used to draw a viewers attention to a specific part of the frame, whether it’s a person, or a vanishing point in the background of the frame. Aperture A large aperture lets in more light to the camera shutter for an exposure, while small aperture has a smaller opening in the lens to let in less light for a given exposure. Macro Macro photography is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size.

5. Adam Burton  Adam Burton has been working as a full time professional landscape photographer since 2008.  He has photographed five of the seven continents and now specialises in the landscapes of the UK.  Burton has never received formal photographic training but from 2001 has been teaching himself by mainly reading magazines.  He favours the colours or dawn and dusk and instead of using editors such as Photoshop, captures images when the natural light is at its most special eg. Sunset.

8. Imogen Cunningham  Cunningham was an innovative American photographer who was best known for her detailed, sharply focused photographs of plants as well as her revealing portraits.  In the 1920’s and 1930’s she still had young children so did not open a studio therefore most of her work was done at home.  Cunningham’s pictures became tightly focused and her subjects were often found in nature. She took pictures of trees, tree trunks and flowers.

Tony Sweet  Tony Sweet is an American photographer, known for widely published nature photography  He is best known for his fine art nature and floral images  He uses digital technology to produce fine art ink-jet prints  Tony conducts photography workshops throughout the continental US and Canada and maintains an active speaking schedule on the subjects of nature and flower photography and marketing

Analysing Images  The picture on the left is a photograph by Adam Burton.  I really like this image as it uses the composition technique, leading lines, to make the mountains the focal point.  I also like how the sky reflects has been reflected in the water to highlight the mountains in the background and the bridge in the foreground.
