5. 5 Why disposable handpieces? Terra is the disposable medical hand piece which is used in Orthopedic surgery. The reusable hand piece have been reused so it may has possibility to infect the patient though the sterilization and irrigation. In the academic, it is reported that the infection occur at a rate 1.5%~2.5% after the surgery. When an infection occurs postoperatively it causes prolonged hospitalization, high mortality and additional cost.
