1. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION Sometimes fear of failure keeps us from doing what we ought to do.

2. PLAN AHEAD  I like to plan ahead.  No surprises, caught off guard  Many things happen – can’t do anything about

3. MANNED SPACE FLIGHT  Godspeed, John Glenn  Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed.  One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.  Houston, we have a problem!

4. WE VALUE PERFECTION  We want our kids to walk, talk, get teeth before everyone else.  Our kids are the smartest, best at sports, win all the trophies.  We want HS, college, masters, PhD.  Above all else – FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!

5. MATTHEW 16:21-23  21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. 22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" 23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

6. LISTEN TO JESUS  Telling apostles – arrest, torture, execution, death, burial, resurrection.  Was failure an option for Jesus?

7. LET’S BE REAL  We fail - - - often  Parents fail their children  Spouses fail each other  Elders fail the church  Members fail to live as they should.

8. RECENT SURVEY  Question: If you were unsure what was right or wrong, how would you decide what to do?  Age group 18-23: What would make me feel happy.

9. DOES GOD PROTECT US FROM FAILURE?  Mark seems to highlight the failure of the disciples of Jesus  Failed to perform miracles – Mark 6:40, 52  Jesus facing death, apostles think of themselves – Mark 9:30, 34  Jesus needs them most, they scatter – Mark 14:27

10. FAILURE IS WHEN WE GROW, LEARN  We learn from failure more then success.  When we fail - repent, seek forgiveness, make necessary changes  Failure helps us learn important lessons

11. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE:  What God has spoken must come to pass  What God stated must be completed  What God ordered must be realized

12. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE:  The devil is waiting to steal our victory  Hell is prepared to receive all failures  A day is coming when the sun and moon will fail, the earth will cease to exist

13. FAILURE WAS NOT AN OPTION FOR JESUS CHRIST:  God said the resurrection of Christ would come to pass  The sin curse of Adam would be broken  Mankind needs salvation from sin  You and I could not be saved

14. FAILURE WAS NOT AN OPTION!  We have the offer of forgiveness because Jesus did not fail in His mission  We have victory in Jesus, our Living and Risen King – because – Failure was not an option!
