Warm-Up Complete the following directions: Pick up notebook off the bookshelf Find new seat (I will change it if I feel that it’s not acceptable) Take out pen/pencil to write with Sharpen pencil if needed

Warm Up How can we make the second half of the school year better than the first? Write for 4 minutes

Pop Quiz! How are you supposed to ask for a pen or pencil? When are you supposed to ask to use the bathroom? When should you be out of your seat? When should you be talking to your neighbor? How should you ask/answer questions in class? How should you be acting when a teacher, guest or classmate is speaking?

On scrap paper, write down how you will follow each rules. Rules: 1. Respect others feelings, personal space, and property. 2. Follow directions the first time given. 3. Bring all materials to class. 4. Listen and stay seated while someone is speaking. 5. Stay on task and participate positively.

Beginning of Class Before the bell rings: This is your time to get prepared for class. You should be… Getting your notebook off the bookshelf Finding your seat Getting out a pen or pencil

Beginning of Class When the bell rings: Warm Up will be put on The song “Let’s get it started in here” will begin to play You will have as long as the song plays to work on the warm up When the song ends, you should put down your pen/pencil and be ready to participate

Beginning of Class Changes include: Specific song will play, same song every day You will have as long as the song plays and no longer to work on the warm up Warm up will not be shown until the bell rings

Turn and Talk Question will be asked On the count of 3… Music will turn on You will turn to your partner and discuss the question Music will turn off and I will ask for your attention Be ready to have an answer to the question

Going to the Bathroom Two fingers Ask during independent/group work and ONLY when your work is finished Do not ask during instruction time, first and last 10 minutes of class

Sharpening Pencil 1 Finger Do not leave seat unless given permission (thumbs up) Make sure there is no one talking when you sharpen your pencil

End of Day Place notebook back on shelf There will be a question placed on overhead EXIT TICKET You will answer the question and hand it to the teacher on the way out. If you answer the question and have extra time, write down what you found most interesting about the lesson and what you found most confusing.

End of day Do not leave the class a mess If there is trash on the floor, throw it out when you place your notebook on the shelf Class will not be dismissed unless the mess that you created was cleaned up by you

Tracking the speaker Eyes on speaker Hands on desk Feet still Speaker includes: Teacher, guest speaker, classmate answering or asking questions

Student Rewards End of the week point system prizes Grab bag with prizes Top three students from each week will receive a prize Student names will go on the door

Student rewards include: Sit at teacher’s desk for a week Teacher assistant for the week (this means they get to get up out of their seat) Computer time for 15 minutes each day (last 10 minutes of class) Choose the YouTube video of the week (each Friday) Choose a Pandora station on Friday Write on the board for a day Clicker for the week Lunch with Mr. DiSibio Eat a snack during class Draw on the board last 10 minutes of class Choose your seat for the week Free electronic time last 10 minutes of class (cell phone, game boy etc.) Art time last 10 minutes of class Teach the class about whatever you want (school appropriate, 10 minutes long) Coloring pages/Word Search/Cross Word Puzzles last 10 minutes of class

Rules/Consequences Poster Contest Create a Rules and Consequences poster to replace the ones on my wall They are due on Friday Monday we will vote on the ones that are turned in, and the winner will be turned into posters to go on my walls
